This customer’s Hitachi ZX1200-6 hydraulic pump had completely failed, rendering the excavator immobile. On investigation, we found it had sustained significant internal damage. Of course, this wasn’t a problem for CJ Plant. We replaced the broken/worn components with new, genuine parts and fully reconditioned the pump.
All excavators rely heavily on the hydraulic pump, When a hydraulic pump breaks, there’s nothing to convert the engine’s mechanical power into hydraulic pressure. The arm, boom, bucket, tracks and swing functions can’t move at all, so this was an urgent fix.
The Hitachi Hydraulic Pump is a piston pump, with various pistons held in a retainer plate by coil springs. The pistons move to displace hydraulic fluid and force it into the rest of the system. The pressure created is what causes movement in the critical parts of the excavator.
When we dismantled the Hitachi pump for repair, we found that the rotary group had shattered. All that was left was a collection of springs and retainer plate fragments.
After cleaning the pump exterior, dismantling and inspecting the damage, we delivered a repair quote to the customer.

We also replaced all bearings and seals and cleaned all parts before reconditioning and rebuilding the pump.
After reconditioning, we fully load tested the pump on our purpose-built testing rig to make sure it was set and working to OEM standards.
We advised our customer on how important it is to clean out the hydraulic tank and system completely, to remove any traces of contamination., Also, replace the hydraulic filter and fill the tank with fresh oil, before installing the pump back onto the machine.
Our customer received a fully repaired Hitachi hydraulic pump in OEM standard condition for a much more affordable price than the cost of a brand-new pump.
