Despite being completely obsolete, with no new parts on the market, CJ Plant repaired this LPVD 075 pump for a fraction of the cost of buying a replacement unit.
Without a repair, the customer’s excavator would be unable to operate, as this pump unit is what converts engine power into hydraulic fluid power to operate the boom and bucket attachment.
We received this pump after the customer was experiencing performance issues. The model has been obsolete since Liebherr stopped manufacturing parts for it a number of years ago, so simply replacing the damaged parts was not an option.
And there were plenty of damaged parts.
This Liebherr pump was in poor shape, but CJ Plant can handle this level of challenge.
We replaced the cylinder blocks and valve plates with compatible parts, as cavitation can quickly lead to further corrosion and damage to adjacent parts.
We machined the servo housing to remove degraded areas and restore surface quality to like new condition.
Still, the damaged axle shafts posed a problem. We spoke to our friends in manufacturing and had new Liebherr axle shafts built to order for this repair.
After our initial inspection, we could see that there was a lot to do on this hydraulic pump.
We dismantled the unit, cleaned all parts and removed the debris that had built up. Then we were able to have a closer look and assess the damage.
Once we knew what was wrong, we found solutions that would return this pump to its original function, without creating too much cost for the customer.
When we had sourced replacement parts and machined the worn servo housing, we rebuilt the pump. All worn parts and all bearings and seals were replaced, and we lubricated the moving parts as we went to ensure smooth action.
The new axle shafts were a perfect fit, and when we load tested the unit after our repair, all parts worked just as well as a new unit would.
The pump was refitted to the customer’s Liebherr A904 Wheeled Excavator without a hitch, and the customer was pleased with our work.
Even when you have an obsolete pump, where there are no replacement parts available, CJ Plant can still provide a quality repair service. Repairing this unit was more affordable than replacing the whole excavator, and more sustainable as well.
