This client was struggling with slow operation on their Cat 308D excavator, which they determined to be because of a faulty hydraulic pump. Our expert team was quickly able to strip the pump, diagnose the issues and rectify them, getting the excavator operational again in no time.
Our client was experiencing operational issues with their Cat 308D excavator, which they isolated to the Toshiba PCV80RS hydraulic pump unit. The pump was not operating at the correct pressure, which was causing the excavator to work slower than expected, causing delays onsite.
The client removed the PCV80RS and sent it to our UK facility for free diagnosis. We found that there was wear on the servo housing and a crack in the valve plate, caused by excessive heat.
After identifying the worn servo housing and cracked valve plate, we began addressing the faults. The servo housing is not a serviceable part, so we sent it to a trusted local engineering company for manufacture..
In the meantime, we fully reconditioned the pump and replaced the cracked valve plate. We also reworked all mating faces to ensure a 100% contact. With everything cleaned and restored, we reassembled the pump and tested it using our in-house testing rig, which simulates normal working conditions.
Finally, the fully operational pump was then returned to the customer for reinstallation.
After our repair and refurbishment, the client was able to reinstall their now functional Toshiba PCV80RS hydraulic pump. Their excavator is back up to normal working speed/performance, allowing them to carry on uninterrupted.
