Caterpillar excavators utilise various hydraulic pump brands, including Kawasaki, Rexroth, Nachi as well as Caterpillar-branded pumps, and other OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) pumps. Piston pumps are favoured in excavator hydraulic systems for their high-pressure capabilities and efficiency. Vane pumps, found on older models, are also used.
You may need to look at a full hydraulic pump repair service if your Caterpillar pump starts exhibiting slow or jerky hydraulic movements, unusual noises, fluid leaks, overheating, low pressure or consistently unreliable operation. Regular inspection and monitoring performance changes help prevent major failures and costly downtime.
Oil contamination – Dirt, debris or degraded oil enters the system, reducing lubrication and causing blockages
Excessive heat – Overheating from worn seals, clogged cooling or faulty components increases stress and wear
User or mechanical mistakes – Using incorrect parts, wrong fluids or exposing the pump to sudden loads
Cavitation – Drawing in more fluid than the pump can handle creates collapsing bubbles that harm internal parts
Aeration – Low oil, loose clamps or damaged hoses allow air in, producing knocking or squealing noises
Of course. Every hydraulic pump or motor rebuild and repair completed by CJ Plant engineers, no matter the size or initial complexity, undergoes thorough testing. Using purpose-built jigs, we rigorously assess all repaired equipment to ensure optimal performance, reliability and safety.
